The Importance of Exercise in Leading a Wondrous Life

How do you feel about exercise?

Is it a chore?

Something you’re told to do. Something you have to do.

I know that feeling.

I used to do anything to avoid exercise.

But exercise is important and I’m here to tell you, you have to make time for it.

Sorry, I’m sure you’ve heard it before…You may even be sick of hearing it.

You really do have to make it a priority rather than something you nudge down your to do list one chore at a time.

But why is it so important?

You’ve got s**t loads to do already. Adding a workout on to your ever growing to do list is going to push you over the edge.

Well, you probably already know that exercise is going to improve your mood, improve your health, improve your….yeah, yeah we’ve heard it before.

But, I think the importance of exercise extends far beyond these. In fact I think exercising can help you lead a happier, more fulfilled life. A Wondrous life.

Let me explain….

Importance of Exercise: You Feel Better About Yourself

Just to clarify, I don't think you need to be worked on, but you obviously do.

Let’s say you want to lose weight. You want to get back your pre-baby figure. Maybe lose the baby pouch.

You know you need to exercise, right? OK, you’re also going to have to look at what you eat, but that’s a subject for another time.

You’re going to have to exercise.

So, you help your kids to play independently, gain back some time each day and dedicate 15 minutes of that time to workout.

You start to feel quite good.

You have a bit more energy. You skin is starting to glow. Your body is feeling a bit firmer. Your clothes are a bit looser. You’re starting to like your reflection again.

When you start to exercise, your body starts to change. Your clothes start to feel a bit looser, you start to love your reflection again.

How would that feel? Good right? Great even. Amazing.

You might even need to go shopping. Buy a swanky new wardrobe to go with your swanky new body.

Now you might believe that this...feeling, is because of how you look. But I think it goes deeper than that.

I think it comes from that realisation that you’re worth working on. And you’ve realised that what you want is important enough to dedicate some time to.

That your life is not just about your family. It’s not just about making others happy. It’s about you. Making you happy.

I think it comes from knowing that you deserve that time and that you can make it work for you.

It’s liberating. It’s empowering.

And that starts to seep into other aspects of your life.

Importance of Exercise: You Feel Better About Your Life

Because you’ve finally worked on something you want.

You’ve dedicated the time. You’ve dedicated the effort. And you’re starting to reap the rewards.

Again, I want to imagine how that feels.

You’re proud of yourself. And you should be.

You start to believe that, if you can do this, with a toddler or two in tow, I can do anything. And you know what, you can.

You start to feel a confidence and that confidence also seeps into other aspects of your life.

You’re walking with your head held high, your shoulders back.

You’re no longer doing just what you HAVE to do, you’re doing what you want to do. Working towards and reaching your goals.

Starting to make some of your dreams come true.

So you think to yourself, what else do you want to do?

Maybe go back to school. Maybe learn something new. Take up a new hobby.  Start a business.

You can do anything.

Again, it’s empowering.

You’ve taken a situation that, let’s face it, is not optimal, not really conducive to making time for yourself, but you’ve made it work.

Go you.

Importance of Exercise: Enjoy What You Do

Exercise is important but what you do is just as important. Find something you enjoy.

OK, so how do you go from avoiding exercise with a passion to finding a passion for exercise. For making time for it EVERYDAY.

Simple….you find something you enjoy doing.

That’s right. Something you enjoy.

Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. It doesn’t have to be something you’re made to do, it can be something you want to do. Something you look forward to doing.

See exercise is essentially movement. And any movement can be made into a workout.

Seriously. You love dancing….do a dancing workout. You love jumping….how about getting a trampoline? Feel like you need to de-stress a bit….how about a boxing workout.

Whatever you like doing, you can find a way to make it into a workout.

But I don’t know what I like doing?

Well, try something and see. If you don’t like it, try something else.

You’re still doing something. And doing something, is better than doing nothing.

So, experiment.

Try lots of things.

There are lots of ideas on this website to get you started. And if none of them float your boat, why not hit me up. I can suggest some others and help you make it into a workout.

Importance of Exercise: Come On Let’s Get Moving

So, however you like moving, make it a priority. Your wants, your dreams are important. Just as important as what you family wants and needs.

So do it.

Show yourself that you deserve it. You deserve the time. You deserve the effort.

Believe it.
